. . . I Will Remember You. . .

Spring 2007 GRACIE developed an intestinal blockage and became very sick. She is greatly missed by her family, especially her dog family (Corrie)

Gracie is a sweet little doxie mix-very loving and quiet. She has a sensitive spirit and would not respond well to a harsh approach. She gets along well with other dogs. No food aggression. She's almost fully vetted. Gracie just had puppies (7 w/ 6 living). they are very cute-born on July 27th. She is a good mom-will need to wait on adoption until after her puppies are weaned.

9/03/06 BRUTUS had to be euthanized after he slipped into a semi-comatose state and stopped eating. He had developed full-blown FELV, which apparently had been embedded in his bone marrow. He had lived as a stray running loose until picked up by a kind rescuer. Brutus lived out the rest of his days as an inside cat with plenty of good food and lots of love. He won't be forgotten.

I am a content, proud creature. not much for the fussying of people, I like a warm window, the arm of a couch, a few good meals and to be pet once in awhile but i'm a low maintneance fella. if your looking for a lap cat who likes to be brushed & fussed over, i am not for you. I don't like kids, I don't like a boisterous home. I'm not scared or skiddish. I don't mind other cats but I could do without them. I 've never seen a dog but from what I hear, they are not for me. I'm looking for an adult to spend some time with. I won't bother you, i don't spray, I don't destroy things, I don't really do much of anything, maybe just every now and again, you and I can catch a late night show together or share a steak...  ok, ok, you can't blame me for trying. I'm what you might call a 'mans' cat. and handsome if I do say so myself, did you SEE my picture? what are you waiting for?  get your phone. I'm ready for that steak... I mean.. uh, those late night shows : )

05/01/2006 LIZZY adopted out to a wonderful man who loved her dearly. She went to get spayed and reacted to the anesthesia and died on the table. He is heartbroken and says he'll never get another dog. She was loved while she lived with him.

Lizzy is a sweet affectionate basset mix that was pulled out of the Monroe county shelter the day of her euthaniza (They loved her and held her past her time really). She gets along well with other dogs, has a sweet way about her, loves to give kisses and is affectionate. She has a lot to give. She's UTD on shots, dewormed and soon to be spayed and microchipped. 1 yr 4 month old Medium (25-50) Female Basset Hound mix. Leash Trained.

Adopted 5/2000 - Passed away 3/ 31/2006

Passed away 3/31/2006

YUKI died on March 31st, 2006. I came home from work to find that he had passed away sometime during the day. I don't know what happened, as he had shown no symptoms of illness and there were no signs that anything had been done to him (such as poisoning).

I had him almost six years, and in that time I watched him blossom into a wonderful dog. He and my Corgie were the best of pals. He will be missed. - Derek

He was adopted by a wonderful guy who also adopted a Corgie. I saw Yuki running down the I-75 interstate one day but I was in a company car and could not stop. I prayed that somehow, God would bring Yuki to me. A week later Yuki was running down Middlebrook Pike (over 15 miles away!) I pulled over and chased him for approximately 1/2 a mile. He was very scared but finally rolled over. I was afraid he would bite me. I prayed for help and a kind man came up and asked if I needed help. He offered to take us both to the vet. Off we went. It took 3 months of living at the vet's office to heal a leg and teach Yuki to trust again. We put him in several adoptathons but no one ever took him--amazing. A kind friend who was helping me with the adoptathon was looking for a companion to his dog. Yuki was a perfect fit. The two get along wonderfully. I get to see Yuki regularly. He has adjusted well and lives the life of luxury as an inside dog. What a blessed dog!

10/29/02 Update from his new caretaker (owner?): Yuki means snow in Japanese but it also means lucky . That was the deciding factor for me in choosing that name. My thoughts were to use a word for snow that wasn't just 'snow' or 'snowflake' (etc., etc. ) and when I saw that the name 'Yuki' also could mean lucky...that was the perfect fit. He is a very lucky little guy, and he is a joy to have around (most of the time anyway).

DAWN little hound mix puppy. Died of parvo in March of 2006. she was exposed at the shelter.

Passed away 9/17/2005

LADD died suddenly on the afternoon of Saturday, September 17th. Although I don't know how it happened, I strongly suspect it was heart failure, possibly due, at least in part, to damage incurred from the heartworms he was being treated for when I adopted him.

He came into my life a little over two years ago, and it was simply not a long enough time to spend with such a wonderful dog. I will always treasure the time I did get to spend with my gentle, bright-eyed, friendly little Sheltie. He shall be dearly missed and forever remembered. - Derek

Ladd was adopted 8/21/03 into a wonderful home. He is going to live w/ two other rescue dogs -- they all get along so well. These dogs are Corgi and Yuki (pictured at the bottom of this page). All three (Ladd, Corgi and Yuki) are soon going to be moving into a home in Lake City. They will be inside dogs and have a fenced in back yard to run around in! They are all about the same age--around 5-6 yrs old. He is currently undergoing heartworm tx because whoever had had him last didn't keep him up on his pills and he contracted heartworms. His new adoptive Dad is just beside himself with worry about Ladd coming through all well. It's terrible that both Ladd and his adoptive Dad are having to go through this trauma--what people don't realize when they are irresponsible with their animals.

UPDATE 12/31/03: Ladd was retested for heartworms and the results came back negative!  I also got chest X-rays done on him, and the damage caused by the infection appears very minimal.  It is so good to be through that ordeal.  He's a great dog and has fit in well with both myself and my other two dogs.

UPDATE10/14/03: Ladd has come through his treatment just fine and I have started him on preventatives. The next step will be to re-test in about 4 months to make sure he's completely heart worm-free. Ladd is healthy and happy in his new home and gets along great with my other two guys. They all love having the run of the house, and the yard. I'm just glad they let me live there!

Very sweet and adorable dog. Sheltie mix. He was pulled out of the shelter on the day of his euthanasia. He wants to please--loves people. Very affectionate. He's neutered, micro-chipped, UTD shots, dewormed. He is mildly heartworm positive and will begin tx soon. He will need to be in a quiet place--not able to increase his heart rate for about 4-6 wks. He will go through this tx well. He's about 5-6 yrs old. What a love.

Passed away 8/2005

LILY is a sweet, loving aussie mixed dropped off at the Madisonville shelter. She has a docked tail (or born w/out much of one). Lily is sweet and affectionate. She has adjusted very quickly to her foster home. She bonds very quickly though and has bonded quickly to her rescuer. She loves to sit in your lap and give kisses. She gets along great with cats and with other dogs. Very playful and fun. Lily handles well on a leash too. She is heartworm negative and on preventative, dewormed, microchipped w/ an AVID chip, and has had her bordetella, distemper/parvo and rabies shots. She is soon to be spayed. Precious little dog with TONS of potential to be a wonderful companion. She will be medium size (25-50 lbs.). She is 11 months old as of 7/2005.

Passed away 8/2005

La RUE cute little orange / white spaniel mix. About 10-12 months old as of 7/2005. Slightly shy but desires to please. This picture was taken when he was in the shelter in Madisonville.

ROLF male, approximately 1 year old as of 6/2005. Mini norwegian elkhound mix. Sweet dog. HW negative and on prevention, dewormed, has had vaccinations for rabies and parvol / distemper. December 2004 Tragically, PAWS was taken to the shelter (in Knoxville they are 'kill' shelters) by his foster family. Please do not take in foster animals if you cannot commit to caring for them until another foster or adoptive family can be found.

PAWS was found on December 10, 2004. He is very loving and sweet. He has a brindle body with a white chest and paws as well as a thin white blaze down his nose. He is about 1-2 years old. He will be neutered, vaccinated and microchipped

12/13/2004

TRAVELER is a pure white german shep male, neutered, UTD shots, HW negative. He is about 5-7 years old (as of 10/04). He was picked up as a stray. He is very sweet and gentle. He is good with children and most other dogs.

1986 - 2003

PATCHES pictured at 14 years old. Patches died Sunday,12/21/2003 at home. She was about 17 years old. She had a tumor in her belly area that grew VERY quickly. The last 2 days of her life, she was very ill and likely in much pain (cats are especially good at hiding any pain they may have). There will never be a cat with fur as soft as hers - she was very unusual that way. She was a delight and especiallly loved my husband. - Sarah

1984 - 2004

SEBASTIAN pictured at 16 years old. He was born in 1984. Sebastian was 20 years old when he passed away Thursday 12/02/2004. We made the very difficult decision to euthanize at his/our vet. He had diabetes the past 3 years requiring insulin injections twice daily and the past 2 years, subcutaneous infusions (all done at home) to keep his kidneys functional along with arthritis and cataracts. His kidneys finally were shutting down. The morning of 12/02/04 he had much blood loss at home and I could not deny he was in pain at that point. I didn't want him to have to endure the pain of dying as Patches may have. He was very much a part of our family. He was a truly great cat. He was not well the past 2 years especially but he still had the loudest purrs for us. - Sarah

11/2004

SABLE Spayed feral Sable was a sweet little feral kitten that came down with FELV. She lived to young adulthood and lived as an inside cat with lots of love. She had it well while she was alive. Sable is buried at Resthaven Pet Cementary.

Female born about January 2002. Leukemia and FIV negative. Started on shots. Litter box trained. Sweet. Black with medium to long hair with white on her chest. and beautiful white whiskers and white 'socks'.

SABLE (same cat - updated photo 3/02)

11/2004

MARMALADE She's still a little shy but we're working on socialization. She's about 6 months old (as of 2002). She and her brother were picked up as feral kittens at an apt complex. She's soon to be spayed and shots are completed. She negative on diseases. She's been treated for worms and ear mites and is clear.

CHLOE'S story: A lady at the Farmer's Market approached me and said that a mom cat showed up w/ four kittens. A friend of her's had them but was going to take them to the pound because she couldn't take care of them. I took them in and found homes for the kittens. Chloe has been spayed, micro-chipped and has had all of her shots. She is negative on diseases. Chloe is a gray w/ some calico (muted) coloring.

KELLY Lab / aussie mix

Kelly died in November of 2004 from contracting Parvo at the Maryville shelter. She did well for about eight days before it hit her like a bomb. It's such a shame as she was such a wonderful dog. The shelter stated that she was mean, but she was anything but. She had a wonderful temperment- loved people and loved to play. She's buried at Resthaven Pet Cementary.

Kelly is a cute, playful little pup. She appears full grown. She's around 35 lbs. She is solid black except having some brown feathering on all of her feet (much like aussies have). She was dumped at the Maryville shelter because she killed a chicken. Therefore she shouldn't adopt to a home with a chicken! She is wonderful otherwise. She plays well with other dogs (big and small). There hasn't been any aggression in her at all. She's very affectionate with her foster mom. She's doing well walking on a leash. She's learning basic obedience as her first owners didn't bother to work with her on this. She is also learning to crate train and doing well. Her pic will be up soon. Very adorable. Would be a wonderful fun companion for children or an active adult. She'd also make a great second dog for someone.

Passed away 2004

KOBIE Kobie died because she was exposed to FELV as a kitten. The FELV went into her bone marrow and she tested negative for 3 yrs. It finally came back. She was rescued running loose outside a hermit's house on the railroad tracks in Loudon. There are 30 cats running loose and the neighbors were shooting them. I saw several dead cats when getting her. I rescued about 5 and all were too sick to be adopted out but Kobie made it for a while. At least while she lived she had an inside home, ate the best food and had lots of pillows and love! Buried at Resthaven Pet Cemetary.

KOBIE Sweet cute little domestic short hair (DSH) female gray tabby kitten. Born around May 2001. Very sweet and playful. Beautiful coat. She's very healthy, up-to-date on shots, soon to be spayed. She's friendly but not a cuddly cat (except she likes to lay on your head when you're in the bed). She's a beautiful cat.

Passed away in 2003

MIMI Adopted 11/28/02 on Thanksgiving Day! Mimi has moved to Cleveland TN. She was adopted by a wonderful woman looking for a female dog to be company to her male 6 yr old black lab, Henry.

MIMI is a beautiful solid black pure bred female lab taken from Newport shelter the end of Oct. She's very sweet and playful. She's thought to be a year old. She desires to please. Loves to fetch! She loves other dogs and is not aggressive--would do well with other dogs. She will need a fenced in backyard. She's soon to be spayed, up-to-date on shots and will be micro-chipped. Great dog!

PORCHIE For those who were never blessed by her presence, Porchie was a gentle, loving creature who brought such joy to our lives. She will always be missed by her family but maybe even more so by her best friend Benzie who still searchs for her. For 7 months I dreamed of how beautiful she would be when she was well again, when her hair was long and thick and the bloody scabs had grown over. I dreamed of how much fun it would be to walk her when she was able to finally wear a collar, the severe mange made it impossible for anything to rub against her skin and not cause an open wound. When our vet told us that day would never come, our hearts were broken. She was so dearly loved and will always be. She will never be forgotten, nor ever replaced, she was one of those dogs that comes around once in a lifetime. I am just grateful to have been able to share those 7 months with her. Porchie was rescued from euthaniasia due to overcrowding in a shelter in Greenbrier, Tennessee. She was about three years old.

HAILEY was found three weeks ago, wandering alone, hungry and pregnant. She gave birth at 5 am on April 14th in our home. She died in her sleep on April 17th leaving behind seven newborn kittens. The runt, Baby Hope, died this afternoon, 4/19/2003 at 2 P.M. It is our prayer that Hailey and Hope will remind you of the millions of homeless cats still waiting for a warm place to rest and a bit of food to eat and that you may leave this site, remembering their beautiful faces and open your heart and home to one just like them.

In Memory of boy Bo, who passed away 4/8/03

I am not sure how to survive this day,

I open with my mouth with no words to say.

There is an emptiness here I can't explain,

where there were three this morning, just two remain.

I can find your spirit everywhere,

every place in the house, you left a bit there.

But I shouldn't worry I know this to be true,

I hear the angels above as they cry too,

but unlike my selfish tears their's are tears of joy,

For now they know happiness of holding my boy.

With all my heart I shall never forget-

We love you bo-bo.

COCOA

Cocoa was found dumped in a neighbor of mine's yard. She was kept in his back yard awaiting a home. She had clearly never been used to living in the yard and she didn't know how to handle herself. She seemed very lost and scared. I got her shots down, got her spayed and microchipped and began to look for the perfect home. Some friends of mine where willing to take her in. The man of the house is disabled and would be able to look after her throughout the day. She would be a house dog again! Also, they didn't mind that she was probably 8-9 yrs old--a barrier for many people. She was adopted to them in the fall of 2000 where she lives like a queen. She shares a house with her human family and three cats. She spends most of her time either at his feet while he's on the computer, in his lap or on the bed snoozing. She has become the perfect little dog they were wanting. Cocoa is so blessed to have a family that adores her!

Adopted 9/2000 - Passed away 12/ 18/2002

I'd like to dedicate this poem to Coacoa - R.V.

We don't know why the angels came and decided to take you away.

They must have needed a very special dog when they carried you on their wings that day

We wondered how they could take you from us and leave us here on our own

Then we realized your love would live on in our hearts and we would never be alone

God must have had a greater purpose for you when He decided your time on earth was done.

He must have wanted you for a heavenly angel so you would be able to watch over everyone.

The angels told Him you were very special and very much so, loved. So with wings full of love, they carried you to heaven; maybe for a very special Baby Angel.

Coacoa became a part of our family in Sept. of 2000 and called home Dec. 11, 2002 She'll be greatly missed but we'll see her again one day.

1992 to 11/06/2002

BEDFORD was dearly loved. First by Fran, his original owner before she died, then by myself. He has never gone wanting. He has had treats, playtime and loads of love. I used to love to walk him. He absolutely loved to walk and check out what he had missed the night before. He loved going to the pet store and sampling all the treats! He had such a cute and happy smile. Bedford was a very gently giant--sweet and affectionate. He weighed about 112 lbs at the time of his death but he would never hurt another dog or person. He was just the perfect dog. He will be buried at Resthaven Pet Cemetery in Seymour TN. He will be greatly missed by his buddy, Honey and by his grieving Mom.

BEDFORD Male - neutered and updated on all vaccines. He was about 10 years old and very affectionate.

TUX passed away in September of 2002. Very sweet cat, named Tux with FIV. He's black and white. He's a large, male cat. He belonged to a drug addict in Lonesdale. Her roommate brought the cat to me. Tux had been out fighting with other cats and that's how we think he got FIV. He's very healthy other than that. He will have to stay inside for the rest of his life due to this disease. He has a sweet personality and likes to cuddle. He's probably about 3 yrs old. He is now neutered, UTD on shots (including his leukemia shot) and ready for a home. He will need to be either an only cat or placed in a home with cats with FIV. He can't be with leukemia cats. He will not pass on FIV to dogs or people.

COBY & TIMMY
Both males. FIV and Leukemia negative, and up to date on vaccinations. They were born around 2nd week of March 2002.

These kittens were born to a tiger striped/torti. cat. Mom and kittens have come from Claxton, TN. They were in a dangerous situation from dogs killing them.

COBY died in his litter box in June of 02. He had been to the vet that morning w/o any major signs of trouble. Have no idea why he passed away. It appears he was having some intestinal problems. Coby didn't live long (3 months) but he was such a special little kitten. He was so affectionate. He loved to be held. He would seek me out to be held. I still miss Coby. He would have been a wonderful pet

TIMMY lived for 5 months, dieing in August. He was doing well and then over a weekend, quit eating. I took him to the vet and they ran every possible test on him, finding nothing. He was force fed for 3 wks when finally we realized he would not eat on his own. Timmy was an adorable kitten. He loved to sit in my arms and just purr. He loved to sit and gaze at you, w/ love in his eyes. He is very much missed to this day. Rest my dear friend.
