ADOPTED!!
DOGS

12/2003 to 12/2005
ADOPTED 12/24/2005

MINDY adopted to a wonderful, young couple expecting a child. They are very dog savy and understand the commitment that a dog will take with a new baby. Mindy is exactly what they are looking for-he's eager to please, calm, sweet and loving. She loves to cuddle and will often put her head on her new mom's shoulder. She has done very well in the house and is housebroken. She's made her way into their bed! She loves her nightly walks. When I ask about her, I'm told she is exactly what we were looking for!

I'm so excited for this dog-she has really found a wonderful home considering what a hard time she had at the shelter. I"ll never forget her face-leaning up against the shelter pen door with her eyes closed waiting for another attack from the dog in the pen with her. She had scabs all over her where this dog had been attacking her. Now she can pick which chair or couch to sit on, has their undivided attention and love and never has to be hurt again.

Mindy is a precious dog with a precious personality. She is very sweet. She is happy and content, not demanding. She loves to just sit by you, gazing up at you w/ adoration. She is sensitive but not overly submissive. I pulled her from the Monroe County shelter because she was in a pen with a dominant dog that was beating up on her. The look on her face of fear broke my heart. She is so grateful. She would make a wonderful first or second dog (she gets along with every dog I've ever had her with). She's great with children too. She's also been cat tested and does well with them. Mindy is HW negative and on preventative, UTD on shots and dewormed. She has been successfully treated for heartworms. She is soon to be spayed and microchipped. Housebroken, Leash Trained, Crate Trained. 1 yr 5 month old Medium (25-50) Female Cattle Dog mix.

Update Jul 17, 2006
Hello Renee,
It is great to hear from you. We can't tell you how much we love Maggie. She has an awesome temperment and loves the baby so much, always
giving him kisses and laying with him while he plays on the floor. Every night she gets excited and starts barking without end until we all go on
our nightly walk around the neighborhood. By the way she is obsessed with chasing squirrels, sometimes we let her off her leash to chase them but she hasn't caught any yet, and hopefully won't. She has really opened up and gotten quite the personality. We could not have a better addition to the family, she makes the house a home. Thanks for all that you do, we have recommended you to several people. We also never had to pay anything for the spay they said it would be put onto your account, so you don't owe us anything. Let us know if you need anyhting. Thanks Again, Chad

BURNEY(renamed Jonah) adopted to a wonderful family that leave between Sweetwater and Loudon. They have a beautiful 60acre 'farm'-not a working farm. They have 3 large ponds, horses a cat and 3 other dogs(two are older). Jonah is so happy-his new mom stays at home and he runs along beside them when they ride their horses. He wasn't sure what to think of the horses at first but was never aggressive towards them. He lives in the house and has done very well with housebreaking. It took a little bit for all the dogs to accept him but they have. A young spanial mix male and he have become fast friends now and play so hard. They have a great time. He gets along well with the cat too. Jonah loves the water (thus the new name) and loves to swim laps (I've observed this in the swimming pool). He will have a ball next summer in the pond. He has learned not to jump up on the kitchen counters and has even lost some weight (which he needed to do). Looking good!

Burney came out of the shelter and has adjusted well to his new setting. He looks both like a GSP and a lab and has characteristics of both. He's playful and fun--would make a great running companion. He calms down very well.He isn't bad to jump. He is very affectionate and easy to get along with. He also gets along well with other dogs and has been around all types. He's a lot of fun. He is neutered, UTD on shots, Heartworm negative, dewormed, microchipped. Burney is crate trained and does very well in a crate. Very nice dog. 2 yr 3 month old Large (50-80) Male German Shorthaired Pointer. Housebroken, Crate Trained.

ADOPTED 12/05/2005

SEBASTIAN 2 yr 1 month old Medium (25-50) Male Labrador Retriever.

Update:9 Feb 2006: Sebastian is doing fine and seems to be getting more comfortable. Yesterday I was going to go into the garage to have a cigarrette and figured that I might as well take Sebastian outside while I smoked. I walked out onto the deck, lit a smoke and opened the gate. I was in the middle of the yard smoking when I realized I did not put his leash on. He stayed in the yard most of the time until the end and he ran next door and a few houses down from there. I went in to get the leash, went back out and started calling his name. He came back and went up the steps without me having to use the leash. He got a bath last night for the second time since he has been here and he did fine.

Sebastian is a sweet, cute little playful boy. He gets along well with other dogs. He is still a little shy but making great strides. He will come when called. He was taken out of a shelter the day of his euthaniza. He is not a big dog--small for a lab. He has many traits like a lab. He would adore you if you were to give him the love he so well desires! He's soon to be microchipped. Sebastian is heartworm negative, neutered and UTD on shots (including bordetella). He is dewormed as well.

ADOPTED 12/05/2005

BOOTSIE adopted to a wonderful family in Maryville TN. She has three adorable kids to play with. The oldest daughter picked her out and has had her picture on her refrig for over a week. They bought out the store of treats and toys and have been so excited about her arrival. Bootsie won't have a dull moment. Last night she slept on the bed but decided at 1am that it was time to play and went from room to room waking everyone up! It's wonderful that this little shelter pup, rejected by Petland's adoption because she was too big has found such a wonderful family to live with.

BOOTSIE is about 5 months old as of 11/2005. She was taken out of Loudon shelter. She's very friendly, an adorable little lab mix pup. she's missing a few toes on her right front foot (appears to have been born that way) but it doesn't slow her down. She's short haired. She gets along well with other dogs and loves to have a playmate. Very sweet dog. She's UTD on shots, dewormed heartworm negative and spayed. she is soon to be microchipped. Housebroken good with dogs, cats and birds.

Housebroken, Crate Trained. 6 month old Medium (25-50) Female Labrador Retriever mix.

CHAMP (Nutmeg's puppy) born July 4th, 2005.

ADOPTED 8/2005

DAISY MAE now named DHARMA

UPDATE 1/4/06: She's spoiled rotten! Dharma has been what my house has needed, and we didn't even know it! It's amazing how well she has integrated into the family of the other three dogs and myself. Sibyl and her are best buds wrestling, running and frolicking. Casey's italian greyhound speed has finally been surpassed by Dharma, she is a great runner. She's no longer getting bowled over by Casey's aggressive play, she's just too fast now. Dharma and Lyla are still coming to work with me everyday.. and even her and Lyla play (and here I thought Lyla didn't play with anyone but me). Lyla acts as Dharma's protector when Dharma and Sibyl are rough housing. It really has brought life back to my crew.. going to the park is quite fun.

She's not gotten any taller, but she has put on a couple pounds since I got her. I'm really bad about remembering to take pictures.. I have one from when they were getting ready to go to the park. She's definitely got a little jack russell personality mixed in with that aussie. She's learned stuff very quickly, and she's gotten a lot more assertive (especially when meeting new dogs). I've considered finding her an agility class in the area because I think she'd pick it up really quickly. The only lesson that's taking a little longer to learn is to keep from jumping on people (of course I've still got problems with that and the other dogs.. I think it's the people that need the training ;)). She's great with me, but is still trying to get away with it with others. She did go through a bit of a shoe eating phase, it took her a while to realize I wasn't just asking her not to eat the particular pair of shoes.. that I didn't want her eating any of them. This lesson took about three pairs of sandals before she realized it was a blanket request. She's the biggest chewer of all of my dogs. I'm constantly giving her chew treats.. and she's still creating her own. Gradually she's learning that it's best to only chew on what I give her. Hope everything is going well, Crystal

DAISY MAE is an absolutely adorable whippet mix (looks like w/ aussie due to the gray merle and white coloring on her back. She's playful and fun--loves to play in the water and loves to be cuddled. She gets along well with other dogs--she has a precious personality--not dominant and not too submissive. She would be a great addition if you have other dogs. Very flexible little puppy. She was pulled out of the Madisonville shelter. She will be small (10-25 lbs.). She is 3 months old as of 7/2005.

ADOPTED 12/2005

CRICKET now BELLA is doing great!!!. She had 3 training lessons , or maybe I should say "we" had 3 training lessons. She is a totally different dog. She has calmed down a lot. She has learned a lot also. I think she's happy here. Loves to sleep next to the wood stove and be warm and yet she loves to lay in the snow and play. She has learned to heel, sit, stay, down and come when told and also on a hand signal. Last night the trainer brought over his dog and we had Bella learn to listen to me without being distracted by the other dog. Not easy to do since she hasn't been around dogs since Tenn. I will take her to play with other dogs when I can trust her not to take off. When she's out in the yard I still have a very long rope tied to her, just in case. She's had a problem with diahrea since she arrived. The vet said she has a food allergy. I have bought 4 different bags of food and finally found something that doesn't upset her. She looks skinny but we'll get some weight on her soon. She's very strong. I knew she had big feet big I just noticed today that the front 2 are way bigger than the back 2. I think some of her restlessnes was from not feeling well and she needed time to get adjusted. She has gotten used to me leaving in the morning. Doesn't need to be crated. We have to work on us both leaving and see what she does. Hopefully she can be trusted. Thanks for rescuing such a wonderful dog.

P.S. She is incredibly smart. Most of the commands that she learned she learned within minutes

CRICKET lab / white German Shepherd mix. She has a labby personality She is about 10 months old as of 7/ 2005 still has a lot of puppy in her.. She loves to play and gets along well with other dogs. She would make a nice addition. Cricket has a lot of energy and would do well with a fenced in backyard to run around during the day. I would suggest obedience training. She would love to have walks or runs with her new family. She would be a great hiking dog. She has been spayed, shots are completed, HW negative and on preventative and microchipped.

ADOPTED 11/2005

WRENNA  adopted in November 2005 to a wonderful family in Maryville TN. She saw her on the website. She is living as an inside dog with a little boy and another pure bred black/tan male GSD. This dog wasn't so sure about Wrenna coming in his home at first but they have adapted well to each other now. Wrenna had a mild case of heartworms and was going through tx when I adopted her. She's cleared of them now and is testing negative! Wrenna is housebroken and learned almost immediately how to go outside off leash and come right back to the door. She gets long walks everyday and can sleep where ever she wants too! She's very sweet and gentle with the little boy too!

Wrenna is a sweet, loving pure bred white germ shep pulled from a local shelter. She's in wonderful health--both in her hips and her teeth. She's a little overweight but other than that, she loves to run around the fenced in yard. She's very good to follow me around, not trying to get away. She has a wonderful personality--great with other dogs--male and female. She's good with children and with people. She's very approachable. She doesn't startle easily and one can stand over her in a dominant posture--it doesn't bother her. She handles well on a leash too. She weighs about 80 lbs. and is 4 years and 8 months as of 7/2005.

COLLINS Update 10 Dec 2005: Things here couldn't be better. We love our new little guy, in fact we call him "buddy" now because he is more like my best bud than just a dog. He basically comes everywhere with me. I have even brought him into work a few times with me. Let me tell ya, we are turning out to be the best of friends He is just what our family has needed. Especially with the loss of our other dog just recently. Which brings me to a new chain of events. Some friends of ours new that we had lost our old dog to cancer, and new how attatched i was with him, About a week ago they found a stray puppy Bearded collie lab cross, and brought her down here for me, not knowing that i had already adopted collins. She is sweet also and both of the dogs have taken to each other very very well.(youll see in the pics) In fact the even miss each other if they are parted for any period of time. I think he maybe missies bessie, thats why he has taken so well to Jasmine ( the new puppy also). He is fantastic in the car, if i have to go out for anything i bring him along and he just curls right up on the seat beside me. He loves being with us all the time. My daughter has had a cold the past couple of days and he has reallly taken to her too as he didnt leave her side when she wasn't feeling so well. He just fits in so perfectly here. He and jasmine play together all the time. they are really very entertaining. Boy its funny how things work out. He had come all this way into our house, and everything is just so perfect. He is also fully trained now, and goes to the door whenever he needs to go outside. and he is alos getting used to the snow, in fact last night he was playing pretty hard in it.. sniffing it rolling in it. I think he is having a great time. My parents even drove down from moncton to meet him. They think he is fantastic. Anyway i have att, some pics for you i think youll enjoy. Update 11/14/2005: Daisy / Maggie now has her own website!
http://www.dogster.com/?219365

Hi! I came into rescue with Mollie. You can read partly about me under her story. We've lived together for around 2 years. We were both adopted from a kill shelter at different times. We have gotten along so well. I understand that to find my forever home, I'm going to have to say good-bye most likely to Mollie and I'm ok with that. I just love all dogs and would love to have another playmate. Course, I would love your undivided attention too. How I would like to live with you inside and then have an outside yard to run around in. My foster mom lets me run around outside and I love it. For most of my life, I've lived in a small pen. I love the freedom and exercise. Course, I love a ball and water and all the things labs love. I am a pretty lab mix but I'm almost 100%. I've been spayed and I'm microchipped. I've had my shots (boy that wasn't fun) and I'm heartworm negative. They give me a pill for this. I was like Mollie in that when I came into rescue I almost didn't make it. My family hadn't checked on my weight loss. I weighed 30 lbs and I should weigh around 55-60 lbs. My ribs were showing. They said it was whipworms. They weren't sure I was going to make it. My foster mom was my cheerleader and she made sure I got the medicine I needed. Now I'm so healthy and happy. I would be happier to meet my forever mom or dad though!

ADOPTED 10/16/2005

DAISY (now MAGGIE)Update 3/23/2006: I hope you are doing well. Maggie and I are doing great. We wanted to write a few lines and send a few pictures. As you will see her coat is really good now around her hind end and her belly is all grown in. She looks so good and no itching at all. She has become very comfortable here, maybe a little spoiled. She loves having her belly and chest rubbed, and she loves outside playing. We had a recent visit to the vet and she had the shots that she was due for. She was fine with the one between her front shoulders, but very afraid when the vet went to the back end one. She is very good with me, but very nervous around some people. The vet said she is a beautiful dog. She has put on weight since getting here, she is now 69 pounds and on a little diet. We both cant wait for warmer weather so we can spend alot more time outside.

DAISY has adopted to a home in Bedford Nova Scotia. She was found on the Internet after lab rescue in NS allowed me to post with them. Daisy has the best home--a very loving caring mom that very much believes in rescue. She rescued her last dog and kept him until he past away. Daisy will have snow to play in and the water (ocean) in the summer. She sleeps on the bed with her mom and gets to go on long walks at night. Daisy got the chance to go on an airplane all the way into Canada and was the perfect angel. She is so blessed.

UPDATE 11/07/2005: Hi Renee,
Things here are going really well. There has been a big improvement with her skin and her coat. She is scheduled to see the vet again this Thursday, so I can give a better update then. She is not itching and her coat is looking really good, just a lot of white dandruff still coming up; but the skin has healed. The vet office did not let me know about her chip yet so I will definitely find that out Thursday as well. She has settled in really good and she seems to be very happy. She don't like being left when I go to work in the morning, she sits by the door holding up her paw to me. She loves her walk in the evenings and don't show any fear anymore. She holds her head and tail up high. She is having less accidents in the house (I think the pills affected her there) and is eating really good. I cant wait till we weigh her Thursday. I took some pictures over the weekend to show you her coat, as soon as I get them on my PC I will send them. I am attaching one picture of her on my couch watching TV. I have a 32 inch TV and she loves watching animal shows. When we watch a show with dogs, she will go over and keep looking behind the TV, from both sides looking for the dogs. She is so funny. I will send an update after Thursday's appointment. Take Care, Tammy

Update 9/26/05: Hi Renee, I asked Newfi if he thought it would be all right to post our message to you on the whole story, and he said ok. Newfi says it's the least he could do for everyone involved that took care of him and helped him get to PA with Scott. Newfi also wants to tell you that Scott went out and found Nutro Puppy Mix dog food, at Super Pets. Today was my first day at work, and I got to meet the Breakfast Club, (that's the three stray cats that Scott caught and had fixed, he also got them their shots) they live there too. They didn't seem to like me right away, but when they came back in later they seemed ok with me. I really like going to work, Scott even bought me lunch, two hot dogs, wow they were yummy. After work we are going back to Super Pets, so Scott can get me some more chewy sticks, I like it there, I can go in the store and pick out what I want, and Renee, he buys it for me too. I must really love him, cause he lets me lay on his lap, and rubs my belly, and I fall asleep. Renee I sleep so soundly when he does that, I don't even know when he puts me on my big pillow. Things get more familiar to me every day I'm with Scott. I don't go to the bathroom in the house at all, and I even learned how to sit for a begin strip. I told you Renee, you would not regret letting me adopt Newfi. Now you know for sure, the things I write are not intended to make you cry, even though I cry sometimes writing it. It's the Gods truth, this is Newfi's life, this is real, its happening right now. This dog will never go without anything the rest of his life, Ill see to it, no matter what cost, or what I have to endure to get it for him. Words cannot compare to what you gave to me, and Newfi. So Renee, by all means, print whatever you want to about me and him, I don't care if you use my name either, because if anyone don't believe it Ill tell them first hand. The work you do rescuing these sweethearts should not be overlooked, you are making a difference in this world. You have made a major impact in Newfi's life, and in mine. If you ever need anything, anything at all, and I can help, please do not hesitate to ask. You know how to find us. Let me know if you post anything. Newfi sends Kisses. Keep in touch. Sincerely, Scott & Newfi

Update 10/15/05: Newfi seems to be making good progress with his condition, and is growing like a weed. He weighed in at 42.5lbs Friday, and he really loves to play, there have been no accidents in the house, and he knows how to sit, and give both paws, (for a beggin strip of course). He is all ready for Halloween, he says he is going trick or treating as a Newfi puppy. He says nobody will recognize him wearing his purple bandana with orange pumpkins on it. Newfi says if you think that's bad wait till Thanksgiving.

Hi Renee, I just cant express to you how happy you made me letting me have Newfi. I am so attached to him already, I was so heart broken when I lost my Edward, and Abby, Newfi definitely is helping me with that. I really hoped we could have spent a little more time together just talking, what you do with these animals is just the most terrific thing to me. I feel I am deeply indebted to you for all your help, because I think if it wasn't for you Newfi wouldn't be here with me. You never know we just might come back to Knoxville one day and look you up.

Newfi is an adorable black fuzzy puppy. He looks to be part lab and part Newfoundland. He has a sweet, affectionate personality--very loving and playful. He's been around a lot of dogs and has done well with them. He is growing but seems like he'll be more the size of a 70 lb lab than a Newfoundland. Very sweet puppy. Started shots and deworming. Soon to be neutered and microchipped. He is about 2 months old as of 8/20005.

NEWFI

Update May 31, 2006: Hi Renee, sorry for the delay in getting back to you regarding Betty. Newfi and I  live in the Lehigh Valley, Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton area, that's about 80 mi. from Harrisburg. If you don't have the situation with Betty resolved please let me know, and Ill see what we can do to help you. Newfi and I have been really busy lately, we are moving a little farther into the country. I will tell you though, driving to Tenn. to make him part of my life was the best decision I have made in a long time. He is such a happy puppy, the love and companionship he gives me is just overwhelming sometimes. He was just vet checked, and weighed in at 68 lbs, and still loves everybody, and everything he comes in contact with. He has the physical appearance of a Newfoundland, and the appetite to go with it. His long fur is black, dark red, and white. Newfi also has a strong desire to play in water, so I bought him a kiddy pool. I sent pictures a couple of months back, I also have one with Newfi, and Santa Clause. Well that's all for right now, I hope all is well with you, and your dogs. Scott & Newfi    P.S. Newfi says thank you, and sends kisses.

Update 11/28/05:Dr Stanglein told me Newfi is growing so quickly his immune system is a little slow in catching up. He said this is common in large breed dogs like Newfi. His immune system should be keeping the skin mites down to an acceptable level, instead he is getting a infestation of them. At this time he is clean, but he could have an ongoing problem with this, up till he is a year old. Don't worry Renee, I don't mind taking him to the vet for help, he is my Newfi, he really means the world to me, just like my Edward and Abby did. His disposition, and temperament are super, like I told you before he loves everyone he comes in contact with. What's really amazing is the three cats, (I call The Breakfast Club) that I caught, had fixed, and got them their shots, that live here in my shop, absolutely love him, and their slightly ferrel. They go to nobody, but me and Newfi, figure that one out. I like to write you stories, as I feel Newfi sees them in his eyes, because if he could talk that's what he would say. When you spend as much time with him as I do, you can just feel it from him. I always say to people, Newfi says he don't know, he don't have to know, he knows more today than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow, and everybody always laughs. I will be sending some pics soon. Please let me know if any of his stories are posted, I would like to read them. I will always be in touch, I'm sure there will be a lot more funny things, this happy little puppy will get into as time goes on, and by all means you have our permission to print anything you want. You can always tell people the story about the little Newfi puppy, you sent to Pa, to live with Scott. We will be in touch, Newfi sends kisses. Scott & Newfi

Update 11/27/05: Hi Renee, yes I do remember Collins, I'm glad he found a home. I go to the site on a regular basis to see what dogs are available, and to check if there are any of Newfis stories printed. I was wondering why Collins was on the site so long, he looked like a real sweetheart. I wanted to tell you something about Newfis paperwork. When I received the big envelope, I sat down in my recliner and opened it. Newfi was sleeping about 10 feet from me on his bed, and all of a sudden he woke up and starting sniffing the air. Then he got up, and jumped up on me, and started whining and sniffing the paper. I mean he was going nuts, so I figure he smelled something familiar, maybe you, or other dogs you have. I just thought that was great, I thought you should know. Newfi says, hey Renee, I had a busy week here in PA, Wednesday I was outside playing with my toys, and I noticed there were little white things falling out of the sky. I was trying to catch them in my mouth, but after a while there were too many, and it made the ground all white. So instead I was rolling around in it, it was lots of fun. Then Thursday, I had a big chicken for lunch, but Scott says it was a turkey, it still looked like a big chicken to me, and it was really good. Friday I went to see Dr. Stanglein, he is nice, he checked me for those little mites again, and he told me there all gone. That was good news, but my immune system is still lacking, and I have a slight skin infection again. So he gave me antibiotics, and a special shampoo for my damaged skin. I have to go back to see him again in a month. He weighed me, and now I weigh 51.5 lbs. I have to get in good shape, because Scott told me I'm going to meet a guy named Santa Clause, Scott says we might even get pictures taken. Wow Renee, I must be real important here in PA. I meet new people, and animals all the time. My little tail is wagging so much, I sometimes get worried its going to fall off, but Scott says its glued on pretty good. I believe him though, because I know he loves me a lot. I might be a dog, but dogs know thing too. That's all for now Renee, don't worry, I'm happy, and we will talk again. Pictures coming soon, Newfi sends kisses. Scott & Newfi

Update 11/15/05: Hi Renee, its 11:15 PM, and I'm sitting at my desk in my office watching Newfi sleep on his chair. I was just thinking about all those days I was wondering, and hoping he could be a part of my life. Now he is here with me, just like I wanted him to be. I sometimes wonder where he would be today if I didn't get him? I have seriously spoiled him to the hilt from the minute you left me have him in Knoxville. He is so happy and content, his little tail wags from the minute his eyes open in the morning till he sleeps at night. He has been to several parks, two car shows, one Halloween Parade, car rides everywhere, and a lot of walks. He also has a lot of friends, cats, dogs, and people too, he loves everybody he comes in contact with. He is completely house trained, and even walks without a leash. I have been with him 24/7, since you gave him to me, no lie. I have no children, I have Newfi. He is a very big part of my life. Sorry, but I'm rambling. I really wanted to let you know I did receive his records, and so did my vet. I thank you very much, again. I plan on sending pictures, hopefully he will grow more fur between his eyes till then. We will be in touch, I will always let you know how he is doing, even though you probably know by now you made a good decision. Please keep in touch, maybe Ill get him a buddy one day, you never know. Newfi sends kisses. Sincerely, Scott & Newfi

Newfi wants to thank you for sending him to PA. After we left you at the vets office, my new friend took me to a pet store and bought me flea & tick shampoo for puppies, a new collar, a chewy, puppy treats, two new toys, a brush, and a fuzzy bed that's really mine to keep. He also bought me some good tasting puppy food too, and even a pig ear! I got a nice bath, was brushed, and blow dried for my trip to my forever home in PA. It really took a long time to get there, but I did sleep a lot, sometimes on the center console in the middle. I didn't know there were so many nice rest stop places that dogs could use too. I finally arrived at my new home around 12:30 AM, of course I had to stop and meet Ginger first, she is really nice to me. We played in her yard for about an hour, boy I really wished I could have a yard like hers, where I could run around, and have fun without having to be on that stupid leash, and guess what Renee, I do! My wish came true, and my yard is even bigger!! I even went out to pee myself this morning!!!! Scott (that's my new buddy) says, I will learn all about that house breaking stuff really quick, so that must be a good thing. Today we went to see the vet, and he checked me out really good, and told me you did a great job of getting me ready for my new home, and that I was a very healthy puppy. He did say I should ask you if you could fax my records of anything that was done to me so he could put it in my file. Well that's all for now, but I will be in touch with you from time to time, and Ill send you pictures too. Scott says you can call him anytime to check on me too if you want to because Ill be here every day with him.

CASEY (now called DAISY) with her new family.
DAISY is a long haired doxie mix. Very cute little dog. She's black and brown. She gets along well with other dogs as long as they aren't too hyper. she's calm, gentle and loves to be petted and adored. She's a lap dog. She's around 18-20 lbs. Pulled out of the Loudon shelter right before euthanasia. She was dumped there with an adorable little white spanial mix.

LADY (now called DAISY) has been readopted back to her former Mom. Lady had shown some aggression around some people living in the apts close to her mom and I kept her for around 6 months while her Mom was moving and adjusting to a new place. Thank goodness she wanted her back! Daisy has such a wonderful life. She has a huge bed to sleep on (but will sometimes sneak up on Mom's bed). She has a wonderful indoor life in an apt w/ walks outside on a leash. Daisy is living in Crossville TN. Her Mom is home all the time so Daisy has so much attention. She is so blessed that she has someone to care for her that takes her to the vet regularly, feeds her gluco/cond for her joints (Daisy apparently was hit by a car w/ an ill-healing back leg before I got her) and loves her so much.

LADY / DAISY is a sweet 2 yr 3 month old Medium (25-50) Female Dachshund/Corgi mix. She adores children and is very friendly & happy. She would be best in a single dog home. She doesn't like cats at all but really likes cars & will chase them! Lady would like to be an inside dog with a yard to play in. She enjoys attention & being held. She loves to please and loves to play. Lady is abut 30 lbs but you'd never know it as she's so short! She is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, UTD shots, & HW negative.

LOGAN (now called LUKE) and BUTTERMILK (now called BO)

LUKE and BO went to a wonderful family in Lenoir City. They have 6 acres, horses, goats and all types of wonderful things dogs like to look at and smell. Buttermilk is an inside/outside dog with big fenced in areas to run in. He is heartworm positive and will need to begin treatment soon. He's an adorable dog with a beautiful personality. He loves the little girls (9 and 2 1/2) and walks with them gently, getting between them to protect them if he feels something isn't right. He's perfect with children.

BUTTERMILK is a love. He has a sweet, easygoing personality--very affectionate and loving. He doesn't jump up on you and is quick to learn other commands. He has the graceful pointer look to him. He isn't a barker. Buttermilk loves being with other dogs and would make an excellent companion to another dog. He isn't dominant and has gotten along well with both males and females. Buttermilk is being treated for heartworms.

Logan is a fun, playful, beautiful pure tree-walking coonhound. He was pulled from the Loudon county shelter. He loves people and gets very excited when he sees you coming! His tail makes helicopter circles! He gets along well with other dogs but is very cat aggressive. He would be a fun dog with children and would do well with them. He would have the tendency to run off after an interesting scent so he will need a fenced in backyard. He is neutered and soon to be microchipped. He's up to date on shots and has been treated for both intestinal worms. He's heartworm negative. Breed: Treeing Walker Coonhound

ELLIE has been adopted to a gal living above Albany NY. She has a playmate (a wire-haired terrier). Ellie has the run of the house and the fenced in back porch (outside porch). She keeps them in stitches with her playfulness. She bosses around her little playmate. She was much wanted and her new owner waited for her for 4 months.

Ellie wire hound terrier / chi mix. Size: tiny (<10 lbs). Age 2 yrs. 3 months (as of 11/10/04)

This sweet little dog was taken out of the Maryville shelter 30 min before euthanasia. It's hard to imagine why anyone would want to put such a sweet, little thing in a shelter. She's very affectionate--loves to sit in my lap and loves to give kisses. She looks to be a mixture of a wire-haired terrier and a chi. She has pointed ears, has a wiry coat that is white with black spots and black on her face. She is doing very well with crate training. She seems to get along well with other dogs although I haven't let her around the big dogs, for her safety. She is soon to be spayed and microchipped

TARA is living downtown with a young couple and a fun, playful male dog that adores her. They live in a high-rise apt with a big courtyard that is inclosed. the dogs can be let loose out there to run and play. They come home every day at lunch to play with their dogs and let them out. Tara has really taken up with the guy--she loves to cuddle with him. She's very happy with her new setup--not bad for a little stray puppy digging through trash in the dead of the January winter.

Breed: Labrador Retriever mix

Size: Medium (25-50)

Age: 4 months old (as of 3/20/2005)

Tara is a sweet, cute little almost pure chocolate lab. She's around 3 months old. She was picked up as a stray off Rowan Rd near Merchants Rd in North Knoxville--she appeared to have been dumped as she was going through trash. She has a sweet disposition and gets along w/ other dogs. She is learning to trust and be an inside dog. She'll probably get to be around 45-50 lbs I guess. Soon to be spayed and microchipped. She is up-to-date on vaccinations and on Heartworm prevention.

CLAY adopted to a couple in the Nashville area. He's doing wonderfully. He loves his little girl who comes to visit. Clay will snuggle with her in the bed. He loves to go outside as they live on the lake and he in enjoying the water. He's a little too interested in a neighbor's cat (Clay is cat aggressive). He is obedient, house broken, crate trained and has won a place in their hearts. He told me that Clay was exactly what he was looking for! They are going to keep the name Clay too!

CLAY is a pure bred American Bulldog. He is a sweet, easy going dog. He has a beautiful white and brindle coat w/ a docked tail (ears haven't been fixed). Clay is housebroken. He gets along well w/ some dogs (has had a female lab to play with) and not others--will just have to try. He loves to ride in the car and loves to go for walks. He has been an inside/outside dog. He is neutered, UTD shots (Jan of 2005), is HW negative and on preventative, microchipped. He has a tendency to get out of a fence (will look for holes) so he needs to be in a 5ft fence or higher that is intact. He loves to run around the yard. Clay is also good with children.

ADOPTED 7/08/2005

JESSICA went to Connecticut to live with a family that has a daughter. They had adopted several cats that were left homeless after the 9-11 terror attack. She lives inside and is occasionally running after the cats but more in play than aggression. She gets to go across the street to a pond and dog walk several times a day as the mom doesn't work. they were so excited about her transporting up there--had all types of toys and treats ready for her before she got there. Jessica has been treated for heartworms and will still need to go through her checkup but was doing wonderful with it upon transport

UPDATE July 18, 2005: Once she came out of her little fog upon arrival (I assume she was tranquilized, as she was pretty mellow considering...), she went through a 2-3 day anxiety phase. She was already comfortable here, for sure, yet she was humping and chewing quite a bit. Sacrificed were two dog beds and our down comforter. (shhh... don't tell, but I'm secretly happy to buy a new one!) All she won't chew in her crate seems to be a perfectly flat bed -- so we've put away the one special good bed until she's through this chewing phase. (We bought the crate on Sunday because of the chewing, and she goes in there willingly each night to retire. Otherwise, she has only been left crated once -- for about an hour while I grocery shopped.)We have our own business, as I told you, and it's a pretty laid-back place where Jesse has already been one full day. (Check it out at www.gorillagraphics.com ) We have about 20 employees and she got a whole lot of lovin' there! She will continue to go -- probably once or twice each week. I want to get her used to it because we can't bring her on vacation with us when we go to Disney in October, a trip we've had planned for nearly a year now. (We have dog-friendly places we go on both Martha's Vineyard where I used to live, and Cape Cod.) But anyhow, when we are in Disney, we will have an employee stay at our house with Jesse and he or she can simply take her to work, so she's never alone or displaced in a kennel! Jess went to our vet on Wednesday and was checked out thoroughly. We will retest for heartworm in two weeks and if all clear, Jesse will be spayed two weeks after that. She is on prednisone to clear up her skin infections and I'm giving her omega 3s for her coat. Yesterday, Jesse met a neighbor's visiting blond lab with whom she ran crazy, happy circles with (her first time off-leash) and who taught her to swim! The first and only other time we tried to introduce her to the lake across the street, she was truly frightened by it. But now she loves it and swims a couple times each day! And we also take her on at least 3 nice, long walks every day into town and around the neighborhood. She requires many potty breaks otherwise, as well -- being on the prednisone makes her thirsty, so she drinks tons of water each day. She's had a couple of accidents, but strangely heads to the bathroom to have them. I understand it's quite common with dogs on prednisone... they are accident-prone! Jesse goes to the playground with us and is very happy to let all the children pet and touch her. She hangs with all the moms outside of my daughter, Sadie Blue's music class. She has a great spot in the house where she has a 'large-dog feeder', which as I'm sure you know, allows them to eat not grazing on the ground, but more comfortably and healthier. She happily wags through every meal and with every sip of water. She does chase one of the two cats, but in a seemingly friendly way. She is incredibly loved and is incredibly loving. She is really special and appreciative and adoring and full of personality. And my husband Geoff, Sadie Blue and I really can't believe how much we already love her and how easily and quickly she fit right into our family! So again, I hope this finds you well. I must bid you adieu for now, as Jesse is DEMANDING a walk from me! ; ) I thank you so very much for finding Jessica that day in the shelter and for removing her from harm's way and fostering her until you found us, her forever family. Because we could not love her more, I promise!

Beautiful female chocolate lab--small for her size. She's around 50 lbs. Good with children. She leads well on a leash and is very friendly. Loves to go on walks and loves to play with a ball. She's soon to be spayed and microchipped. She's currently in the Madisonville shelter. Age 2 years 4 months as of 5.2005. She is medium size (25-50 lbs.).

MATEY was adopted to a couple through Labs4rescue in Connecticut. They adopted him through his transport on 6/18/05. He is living in an apt with a dog park to play in. He was initially afraid to go through doorways and up/down steps but has gotten over these fears (he was afraid of the steps at my house too). He has gotten used to a crate and is doing very well with it. They love him and say he has the best personality! Mattingly was taken out of Madisonville shelter (the last of 3 in a litter that didn't adopt) right before euthanasia.

MATEY is too cute for words! How could a cutie like this and his litter mates end up in a shelter?! He's the only one of 3 left--the others were adopted. He's around 3 months and in the process of vetting. Adorable personality--gets along well w/ other dogs and very trainable. Would do wonderful with children. Three months old as of 6/2005. Breed: Labrador Retriever mix

ADOPTED 5/13/2005

LINDSEY is a sweet sweet black lab/boxer mix. She was dumped in front of the home of someone I adopted a dog too. She is 'drying up' from a litter of puppies. She gets along wonderfully w/ other dogs--would make a great second dog. She has a submissive personality-Beautiful dog. She's solid black except a little white on her chest and paws. She has a boxer face. She is enjoying being inside and having plenty of food to eat. She has plenty of potential. She's heartworm negative and UTD on shots (including bordetella). She is spayed and Soon to be microchipped. Very nice dog--gets along with all the dogs I have--male and female. Just wants to please you!

UPDATE Mon, 20 June 2005: Lucy (Lindsey) is doing. She has really come out of her shell and I think she likes to be able to finally act like a puppy. She has chewed up most of her toys however she has two stuffed animals that she loves too much to destroy. We take Lucy on walks two times a day, she gets so excited when we get her leash out and she even goes running with me three day a week. Lucy was frightened to get in the car at first but now she knows she gets to go to the park for a run so she just hops right in. She loves hogging our bed and she even wakes us up if she needs to go outside. Lucy's getting better everyday about going in her crate when we leave and she doesn't wine or bark when she's in there, just sleeps. We can't imagine having a better dog, she brings alot of joy to us. We just want to thank you for doing so much to help dogs like Lucy, if it wasn't for your kind heart we wouldn't have our girl.

REAGAN

UPDATE: 3/28/05 Rea-Rea is still very happy that she adopted us. Her and Clay get along great. They have a blanket that they share at the end of your bed that they sleep together on. They have a great time playing and begging. Rea knows when and were you get biscuits, (Clay taught her how to beg). She loves to go for walks and has learned how to heel and stop at street corners. They both love to sit in your lap of course at the same time. She is learning about cats it's a work in progress:) She is a social butterfly on walks and loves to be petted by the kids, very sweet and gentle. I think she is happy, since her tail never stops wagging. Just wanted to update you on our new girl. - Alice

UPDATE 2/20/05: Just an update on Rea (aka ms waggle tail). She is the perfect lady, she is quite the entertainer when Clay and her get going. She constantly wags her tail, hence the nickname. She loves to play and run. It took a couple days to learn don't chase the cats, because they will nail you in the nose and give you looks that will stop you in your tracks. She walks way around when Dazie is in her path now. Punk is more mellow and doesn't care. Rea does not like Punk eating her food though and runs him off politely. Clay and her get along great, a few growls, way less than I expected being the age they are. Rea has learned where all the treats are and knows how to sit and come to the clicker. They both got baths today and she was great. She was learned that if Clay sits in your lap so should she (at the same time of course). She was her bed and sleeps well all night, at the end of the bed next to Clay. So I would like to inform you of the new addition to our family Ms Waggle Tails is here to stay;) We will forever miss Ginger and are still very sad,,, but God works in wonderful ways and brought a Rea to our life, to help all heal. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do to help the furry friends.

REAGEN is a sweet loving little gal that just wants to sit next to you and be petted. Reagan is blonde and has recently been shaved. She was dumped on my property at the beginning of July 2004. She has adjusted and is just adorable. She is very sweet and loving. She has been tested with other dogs and does well with male or female. She is a calm dog and would make a wonderful pet for someone wanting one like this. She hasn't been tested yet with children or cats. Her shots have been completed and she is heartworm negative. She will soon be spayed and microchipped. She has had a bordetella injection and is negative for intestinal worms. She is 1-2 years old (as of 8/2004).

LANE pit / bulldog mix

Breed:

Terrier/English Bulldog

Size:

Medium (25-50)

Age:

11 months old

Update 12/10/05: Lanes' name has been changed to Gracie. She is living w/ an older yorkie and she looks after her. She also lives with an adorable 2 yr old little girl named Laura. She's found a wonderful home w/ friends of mine who have been very helpful w/ fostering for me. Gracie and her little buddy Maggie have seen several dogs come and go and get along with each one of them. Gracie lives in the house and has learned all kinds of house manners except she still likes to jump up on the couch when Mom isn't looking. She has a huge fenced in backyard to run around in. She did find a way of climbing one part of the fence and would get over when her family were in the front yard (wanted to be with them) but that problem has been fixed. She has learned digging and other fencing climbing antics from several of the fosters but when they leave, she seems to forget these tricks of getting out thank goodness!

Gracie now has a new baby in the home named Rebecca! She will be learning about a baby crying and how to be gentle. Gracie is so good w/ kids-she'll adjust. Laura will continue to keep her entertained

Lane is an adorable, fun loving great great dog. She's got beautiful coloring. She's tan with a black muzzle and a white underbelly. She doesn't have an aggressive bone in her body. She just wants to play. She gets along very well with every dog in our program--going around to visit them all and saying hi. She was pulled out of the Maryville shelter right before euthanasia. She is affecionate with her foster mom as well. She does well following her mom around and coming when called. She is very smart as well--will be easy to train. She would respond well to obedience and possibly aggility training should one like to try. She would make a great second dog as she thrives with dogs. She will be wonderful with children as well. Very nice dog! She's soon to be spayed and microchipped.

FRAN was renamed KARMA because her family felt it was 'karma' that kept her from being killed and brought to them

I was on my way to my property in Madisonville where they were meeting me to see Karma when I have an accident and flipped my truck. I went down a hill and flipped over, sliding between boulders! Due to only God's intervention, neither I nor Karma were every bruised. There were items in my truck that could have killed both of us. The family were so helpful that night-helping me take care of my dogs down there, buying them food, driving me back to Knoxville and then adopting Fran/Karma. Karma now lives in a beautiful log cabin home in Louisville TN with 2 other cats and her buddy, a female dog from the Maryville shelter. They have a big fenced in yard to run around in during the day-they just love it! They get out and play and roll and run from one end to the other. they also have a wonderful deck to sit on and sun. They come in when their family gets home and sleep in the house at night. Karma will sometimes tease the cats but she's not cat aggressive. You can tell she's very happy and very well taken care of. She was picked out and sent to me because the dog that was supposed to come was adopted. If this hadn't happened, Karma would have been killed. It's wonderful to see how a wonderful dog like this, a pretty little mixed breed ended up having such a good life!

FRAN is an adorable sweet sweet dog. She's beautiful too! She has a pretty white coat (short to med length hair) with several black patches and black 'tics'. she has brown and black coloring around her eyes. appears to maybe have some husky in her but much smaller. She seems to be full grown (around 10 months or so) and is filling out. She came from a shelter right before euthaniza. She gets along well with other dogs, including puppies. She loves to play but settles down quietly too. Very nice even tempered disposition. She is soon to be spayed and microchipped. She would be great as a second dog and with children

MADONNA's rescuer decided to keep her!

MADONNA is a beautiful pure-bred Aussie girl who is about two years old. She is a medim-to-high energy girl and her former people would not take the time to train her or give her obedience classes. Instead, she was tied to a tree with no shelter. A concerned co-worker talked them in to giving Madonna to our rescue. Boy are we glad she did!! Madonna is a wonderful example of a true herding dog. She wants and needs a job. She is affectionate with people, including children and gets along with other dogs Madonna is very smart and is not shy like some Aussies and would do very well in agility or frisbee competition with training. Madonna is looking for her forever home with a real Aussie person who will keep her busy wrorking and playing.

TAZ 2 yr 3 month old Medium (25-50) Male Australian Shepherd.

Taz is a sweet boy that gets along well with other dogs. He has been in rescue for over a year and so desires to find an indoor/outdoor home. He loves to run around in a yard; smelling for bugs. He is very focused on whatever he is doing--whether getting rid of bugs or playing with a ball. He gets along well with AC, a female dog, if one is looking to adopt two. He is neutered, UTD shots, dewormed, and HW negative & on prevention. He is a beautiful tricolor aussie. Would you consider him? If you do, you would never be sorry.

Crate Trained.

MOOSE is iving with a Maryville, TN family that has children. He has an inside/outside home. Has another dog (chow mix) as a playmate.

MOOSE is a beautiful chocolate colored pointer mix. He seems to have some aussie coloring. He is still a puppy of sorts--loves to run and play. He was taken out of a local shelter and has been neutered, UTD shots and is heartworm negative. He will be microchipped before adoption. Moose loves other dogs and would do best to have the love of a family and a fenced in backyard. He would love to be an inside/outside dog. His coat is too short to be outside only. Moose is learning to not jump and to walk on a leash--his previous owners didn't take the time to teach him these things. He would be great with middle aged children that want a fun companion to run and play with. He would also be great with a single person who has an active lifestyle. Moose is a high energy dog (mostly due to his age). He won't be that big despite his name. He'll be around 50-60lbs and thinner due to being a pointer mix. Very nice dog.

UPDATE 4/3/2006: MOOSE adopted out through another rescue but they are refusing to take him back. He's energetic and needs a home that is active. He is again looking for another home (see DOG page for those dogs waiting for homes).

SPOT has a new home in New England. He was adopted through SPCA in Hudson Falls, NY.

SPOT is a wonderful dog! He's fun, playful and loves kids. He's a hound mix (white w/ brown spots). He is crate trained, housetrained and walks well on a leash. He loves to tear around in a backyard-he would love a fenced in backyard to play in. He's great with young children and with older children as well. He gets along well with other dogs and would make a great second dog addition. He's neutered, microchipped, UTD shots, HW negative and on prevention, tx for fleas and tics and dewormed. Spot is a love!

REECE UPDATE 3/2/05: I hope you are doing well. Just wanted to give you an update on our newest family member. He is doing great! (And so is Kendra). They still play all the time and he really seems very comfortable and "at home" now. He has learned the routines and knows the schedule! He is beginning to fill out a little and is a good eater. He is so funny - we love his expressions! He is usually a very good boy, but when he gets scolded for something, he understands and doesn't let the scolding spoil his jolly disposition. He learns really fast. I think Kendra must tell him the rules, because we really haven't had to do much training or scolding! He likes to play rough and naw on our arms, but he knows that's fine with Tom, but he goes gentler on me! He likes hugs and we dance (he's almost my height when he jumps up on me). Well, just wanted to let you know that all is well. And want to reiterate that any time you want to come over for a visit, you are welcome... I'm sure he'd love to see you! -Dawn

REECE now Keyden KEYDEN. He's gone to live in a West Knoxville home as an inside/outside dog. He's learned to not go to the bathroom in the house and is doing very well w/ this. during the day, he is outside in the large fenced in backyard w/ his new buddy--a beautiful choc female lab. they have had the best time from the moment they first met--they roughhouse and play constantly. They have lots of room to run around. The couple that adopted Keyden is just wonderful. They believe in getting a rescued dog--have done this many times before. They just lost their old rescued huskie and their little lab has been lost w/out him! Keyden has struck gold!

REECE Young Lab mix. About 9-10 months old (as of 11/2004). Very sweet and affectionate. Good with other dogs.

CALVIN is a wonderfully sweet dog. He gets along well with other dogs esp females! He does way with submissive males but not with aggressive males. He lives children and would be a great family dog. Calvin likes to have a job as most aussie/border collies do. He would make a grea herding dog if someone would take the time to work with him. He would also do well in agility and flyball! Or just retrieving and playing at the park! Calvin has a beautiful tri colored coat. He actually doesn't weigh that much (around 30-35lbs). He would be a wonderful single dog or an addition and playmate for your other dog. He just wants the chance to live inside and run in a fenced in backyard! He's neutered, UTD shots, heartworm negative and on preventative, dewormed. He will be microchipped before adoption. Size: Medium (25-50).
