BINGO adopted to a wonderful family in MA!

UPDATES

More Bingo! Bingo's New Home

BINGO is a sweet, loving black lab mix (looks mostly lab except a little longer nose). He's loves people. He loves children and is very gentle. He's all lab. He loves the water and will loves to play in the lake. He has a good sense on retrieving about him-loves to chase a ball. He doesn't need to be in a home with a cat however. He loves to walk on a leash, and enjoys running around in a fenced in yard. He isn't a digger or climber.

ADOPTED 2/17/2007

UMA is a pure gsd that came out of the Monroe county shelter. I helped her adopt to a home in Vermont. Unfortunately she didn't work out with their dogs (they have 3 other ones) and so she started looking for a home. She's moved to a home with another pure bred gsd and they are working out very well. Uma (formally named Gretchen) is living still in VT with a family that wants to train her to do search and rescue! Sounds like a very good situation.

ADOPTED 1/20/2007

ADAM adopted to a wonderful home in Sevierville, TN! He's very happy with this large extended family and loves it! They have 14 grandkids between them and they are over at their grandparents home all the time! Adam is eating up the attention! He gets daily walks (and is slowly losing his weight) and he's getting lots of rides in the truck! Adam loves to ride-he loves to watch the birds and all the sights. He has a bed beside their bed and has settled in well. They say he's adjusting very well-great with the activity, great with all the attention and hasn't had any accidents in the house! Can't wait to see the new and improved (lighter) Adam in the days to come.

Adam is an adorable sweet cattle dog mix. He was picked up by Maryville animal control. He was pulled 30 min before euthanasia. I just couldn't allow a dog wearing a bandana to be euthanized. He has clearly been someone's dog. He is well mannered, sweet and affectionate and gets along with female dogs, although he would prefer to be an only dog. He gets along great with children. He loves to ride in a car and rides very well. He is microchipped and fully vetted.

ADOPTED January 2007

JACK has gone to live with a wonderful single gal who has 2 other dogs. He lives in the house with a fenced-in backyard and a doggy door to go in/out of whenever he wants. He gets treats of ham and all kinds of yummies! He's so happy-he just smiles. He loves to lay either on his new moms feet or right beside her when she's on the computer. She tells me how very grateful he is-that he just loves his new home. He has done well finally with housebreaking and doesn't have to use a crate. I hear wonderful stories about him all the time!

Jack is a sweet med-sized little guy that has jack russell in him. He is CALM! He's around 3 yrs old and is housebroken. Very nice boy. Still a little shy around men. Would do best in a quiet home-maybe with a retired couple. He's good with other dogs too. He's not a jumper, not a climber. Loves to lay beside you on the couch.

ADOPTED January 2007

DAISY is doing wonderful-gets along very well with her new friends - a yorkie and a cat. She’s sleeping in the bed with her new owners, plays all day with her new little buddy, and is doing wonderfully with no housebreaking accidents.

Daisy was orginally obtained for a little boy because he wanted a dog. She was chained up outside for the first 6 months of her life. Then he wanted a lizard, fish, cat, etc. The family said something has to go and because he never developed a relationship with this little dog, the little dog was destined for the pound. A neighbor across the street said she’d take her to rescue her but didn’t have a place to put her.

JULIE (now TWIGGY) adopted to a family in northern Massachusetts:
Hi Renee....Everything went well. The transport was already there when we got to Windham at 2:15. I took my daughter Sarah with me, and she couldn't believe the scene. The parking lot was full of cars, and people were lined up at the transport to pick up their pets. People were crying with happiness, and the dogs all seemed so glad to see their new owners. One or two were a little fearful, but it was a very moving experience. Kyle and his crew are wonderful. We met a lady who also had a dog from you (Mitzi?) , and she gave me treats from you for Julie.

UPDATES

Update - 12/22/2006
Twiggy's New Crew

JULIE is a wire terrier mix that is just adorable. She appears to be around 8 months old. She was dumped in Rockwood TN at the end of a dead end street. A kind woman took her in because her neighbor shoots dogs. Julie is a sweet, playful little gal. She's crate trained and housebroken. She's been exposed to a 3 yr old child and a baby and is very gentle and good with them. She is learning basic commands and gets along well with other dogs-both large and small. Hasn't been exposed to cats yet. She has a wonderful disposition.

MAIZIE I got a call from a gal in Maine that wanted to adopt a southern dog that was small to med. I routed her to the site that is showing the Maryville shelter dogs and she found Maizie. She called me on Friday night to see if we could pull Maizie out of the shelter-Maizie was to be euthanized at 1pm on Sat. We got her out after some doings at 12:50! She got some of her vetting done here and transported before Christmas! What a wonderful Christmas present! She has been a joy up there-has fit in very well with the other dogs and cats. Loves the snow! Has learned to play in it (Maizie never saw snow before). She's learning to play with toys-never had them before. She's taken to sleeping on the couch and loves the life of luxury! What a blessed dog!

She also has a 1 yr old and a 4 yr old that she adores. She's excellent with children. She gets along great with the children, playing and being very gentle. She is really the perfect dog. She's obedient and listens well. She's finally learned housebreaking (didn't take her that long) and she has a fenced in yard in which to sun herself or do squirrel patrol. She loves to play with the kids in the backyard too-running and catching the ball--

Campbell is a sweet affectionate little terrier mix. She's short haired and looks a lot like a germ shep except that she is about 20lbs! She recently had a litter of puppies that have been routed to another rescue. She was picked up as a stray and brought into the Campbell County shelter. She is a loving little gal-not too energetic, but still very playful. Very sweet temperment. Campbell gets along very well with other dogs. She is also good with cats. She rides well in the car. She's been around children as well and has done very well with them (younger kids-ages 4 and 7).

CHARLIE

A note from Charlie...

Howdy Momma Renee, This is Charlie and I want to thank you for taking good care of me until my new parents found me. Mommy Barbara and Daddy Larry are spoiling me rotten - they brought me toys, chew bones and lots of treats. I have a new water and food bowl - the food is pretty good, I've eaten twice already. I have a new bed that is lined in sheep wool and it is so soft, comfy and warm along with my blankie. I've trained them already to take me for a walk when I go to the door. They are so nice, I don't want to have any accidents in my new home. Mommy Barbara has me at work today and it is nice too. Here are some pictures and when I can get them to take some more of me, we will send them too. Thanks again Momma Renee, for all you have done for me and for finding me great new parents. I am very happy. Talk to you soon!!!!!!

GINGER is doing great. She is now eating dry food only, Proplan weight management. She is even eating my dog treats. She has still yet to mess in the house. She has been playing with Bear, our cat. She is not sure about the big dogs but she will walk around them. She loves bathes, walks, and car rides. And, I assure you she is not spoiled and of course, I am not the cause. She loves being outside and stays right with me when I am out there. She walks around the yard as if she has always lived here. We planted flowers the other day and she laid under a tree and watched me the whole time. I did find that she likes the gazebo and likes being in the swing. She is always happy to see us when we get home and even does a dance and runs up and down the hallway. She also likes sitting in the window. She must have done this with her previous owner. Our couch is in front of the window and she sits there as if she were a cat. I am hoping to take her to the vet soon. She needs those teeth cleaned. But, I will wait on her records. Ginger is very loyal and we are very proud to have her. We thank you so much for introducing her to us. It was perfect timing. I am including a pic of her. Hope you enjoy!

This dog was special from the get go. Snuffy is 9 years old, she has been kept in a cage and bred her whole life. The breeder has these dogs in small cages (above ground) on a part of his farm. When I took snuffy home she was immediately different. She was completely frightened of human beings to the point where she would put herself in a corner with her face hiding, she refused to eat and still to this day will go stiff when on a leash or held. I have worked hard to help this dog as much as I can to become a "normal" dog. As of now she does not hide anymore, she spends her time on the couch and is used to humans. She has made friends with my girlfriend, and only her. She shies away from me, and is reclusive to strangers. I am moving on monday May 1st and I cannot take Snuffy with me. I am afraid to leave her with a stranger, and putting her to sleep will is not an option. I want nothing more than to find a happy, quiet home for Snuffy, and I need help finding someone qualified to take this sweet, sad, dog. I am very sorry for the short notice, but the previous plan for her fell through. I would like to add that if it is neccassary I will drop everything to come back for this dog.

CHANCE was adopted to a home in Nova Scotia. UPDATE 4/15/2006: Just letting you know that we had Chance to the vet, the were very impressed with the medical records and the level of care that he was given. Chance is still healthy, was treated with revolution which treats for fleas, tics, heart worm, tape worm, and ring worm. He is doing very well with his training, he knows now how to sit, lay, and just learned yesterday paw. Still working on come, and stay. He is fully house trained, and will bug you till you get up to let him out before he will soil in the house. Tried the first couple of night with the crate, but nearly destroyed it, he got very aggitated, so he is crate free. Able to leave him for short periods of time in the basement, but goes to a kennel for long periods of time. Went to work on the 11 of April and found a notice on the fridge that there was a dog in need of a home or the dog would be put down, I couldn't see them put the dog down so I called the dog catcher in Shelburne and asked him not to put the dog down, that I would find him a home or a shelter to go to. So I made a few phone calls to some shelters and got no answer, so I called Trish. She agreed to take the dog. When i brought him home, We considered to keep him if only Chance would of got along with him. The other dog was a black lab mix. I just thought that I let you know our rescue of this puppy. - Laurie and Lisa

UPDATE 3/27/06: We got Chance Monday night around 8:30pm. Laurie pick him up and said that he fell in love with him. He got into the car and laid down for the drive home. Today Lisa got to see him and I fell in love with him. Everything is going fine, he's settling down fine, taking a little time to adjust, but doing well as of now. We took him up to the tennis court, which is fenced in and he played with the ball. We took him to the baseball field which is wide open and he ran off but checking every once in a while to see where we were at. Hes been playing with millions of people and children. Introduced with some dogs, some good some bad. His demeanor is perfect, just what we were looking for, not rambunchous or hyper, jumps at first but settles down, did well first night in crate, still a little uncertian of his surroundings. He's lying on the floor beside us now. Follows use everywhere. We are sending you some pics of him with us. Thanks again for all your help in getting him herre, he is going to be spoiled here and loved very much. -Laurie and Lisa

Chance1 yr 9 month old Large (50-80) Male Labrador Retriever. Chance is an adorable black lab (almost pure)that was dumped in the Madisonville shelter. He is fun and energetic, loves to play and chase a ball. He has the shape of a paw print on his tongue! He would love to have children to play with. He is strong and could benefit from obedience training-would do very well w/ this. Chance loves to play with other dogs. Chance is an alpha dog so he would need to be grouped with a more submissive dog. He loves to play with a ball and is quick to fetch and learning to bring it back. He loves to cuddle and is very sweet. Would love to have a fenced in backyard. Does seem to be cat aggressive. He has been neutered, microchipped, dewormed and is UTD on shots including bordetella. He is heartworm negative.

JOSIE

5 years old Small (10-25) Female Dachshund mix.

Josie came into rescue this past week.. She weighs around 10lbs. Josie is the cutest thing! She has fit in really well into a home that has multiple dogs, a cat and birds. She is housebroken. She isn't aggressive and loves all the attention. She has had all her shots and has been dewormed. Soon to be spayed.

Housebroken, Leash Trained.

ADOPTED 2/10/2006

SPICE (now TJ) isn't quite housebroken but she's making progress. She's getting used to being in the crate when we go to work or have to go out. She's becoming more assertive and comfortable here and her tail is wagging alot. Last night she stole the dinner rolls off of the table and ate 1 1/2 before I got them away from her. She has a thing for rolls and is a bit of a beggar. We've started obedience school and she's catching on bit by bit. She loves Ian and sleeps with him at night- I think we need to get him a bigger bed! She loves to play fetch and to take long walks- she's quite a sniffer! It can take a while to get along our local greenway. Our next adventure is to give her a bath this weekend. And you were right- she loves car rides. I usually ride in the back with her if Tim's driving and she usually ends up sitting on my lap! She's a really sweet puppy.

Spice is the sister to Cinna, Bon, & Nutmeg. She was very scared and shy when she first came out of the shelter. She's doing wonderful now--loves to be around people and loves the affection--realizing what she's missed out on! She's quite the cuddler. She's not demanding, just precious. She's good with other dogs, loves to run and play. She won't be a big dog--currently about 38 lbs and full grown. She's current on her shots and HW negative. She's on preventative. She's dewormed and spayed She's soon to be microchipped. 11 month old Medium (25-50) Female Golden Retriever mix.

ADOPTED 2/03/2006

OWEN (now GUS) is now in a wonderful home in Weaverville N.C.They had a dog and were wanting another one to go w/ that one and ended up adopting a third! Owen is very happy-inside dog w/ two buddies to play with! They are very conscienous and are wonderful pet owners. We had been cooresponding over owen (now named Gus) for several months before they adopted him. He loves the bed and loves to run around in the back yard. He's very happy! Very blessed dog to have been adopted by this home!

UPDATE 4/3/06:Everything is just fine! No more marking, pooping in the house, staying awake all night. Last night everyone slept well. We have begun working on basic commands. He learns very quickly. Jesse is accommodating him. I hope they will become friendlier in the next couple of days. Today I ran them on the path behind our house. He came tearing down the path when I called him going so fast I was afraid he was going to crash, but, like Jesse, he slammed on the breaks in time to stop at my feet. I'm enjoying him immensely. I'm waiting to hear more details about the shelter in Hendersonville. Hopefully by Monday, we'll be able to formulate a plan. Nancy

Owen was pulled out of Loudon shelter right before euthanasia. He has an adorable personality. He loves to play with water and will chase a hose around. He loves a ball and he loves treats. He gets along well with most all dogs he's been with. He currently lives with Sajen. Owen is more of a follower-not a dominant dog. he's been with-- He is easy going and has a very flexible personality. He just wants to have fun! He has a long body (looks more like the cartigan corgi) with a tail. He's black with a little white on his chest. He would be a great first dog or make a great second addition if you're looking for a playmate. He's micro chipped and HW negative. He's on preventive and he's UTD on shots. Soon to be neutered. Housebroken, Crate Trained.

1 yr 5 month old Medium (25-50) Male Corgi mix.

ANJA was adopted to a family through SPCA of New York

Anja was pulled out of the Monroe County shelter in May. She was skin and bones when first taken out. She has filled out nicely, very healthy and happy now. Her personality has just thrived--she is sweet and very grateful. She's a quiet dog--just loves to be with her friend. She's not a jumper. She's good with children too. She gets along well with most dogs--would need to just try and see. She probably would prefer to be an ohly dog though. A dog worth adopting! Handles well on a leash. UTD on shots, Heartworm negative. Soon to be spayed and microchipped.

2 yr 2 month old Medium (25-50) Female German Shepherd Dog mix.

ADOPTED 02/2006

ANNIE
3 yr 3 month old Large (50-80) Female Boxer mix.

Annie is a sweet, playful fun 3 yr old dog. She's great w/ other dogs and has been living for 3 yrs w/ her buddy Hank (also pictures on ARFNETS). Her family is going through a divorce and can no longer take care of her. She's probably better w/ bigger dogs as she's too playful for smaller dogs and for cats-not aggressive but teases them too much. She's housebroken and crate trained. Annie is fully vetted and microchipped. Love to adopt her w/ her buddy Hank but can be split up. Annie would do best w/ a fenced in backyard.

Housebroken, Leash Trained, Crate Trained.

ADOPTED 1/31/06

Jorge to a wonderful family in illinois-they say his pic and couldn't wait-drove down here the next day to adopt him. They say he's the perfect pet and has moved in without missing a beat

Quick update from Jorge's family: Jorge is doing great. He acts likes he has always been in our home.

Jorge is an adorable little pug/chi mix that was dropped of at the Monroe county shelter. He is considered a 'designer dog'. He has a wonderful personality and gets along well w/ other dogs and a cat. He is also housebroken. He sleeps with the son (11yrs) every night and loves it (although he does steal the covers!). He loves to play and is learning how to bring back a ball. He loves to chase other dogs around the house and plays til he drops. Jorge is about a year so there's still puppy in him. He looks like a pug (coloring) but doesn't have the curled up tail and his nose is a little longer. He is UTD on shots and fixed. 1 years old Small (10-25) Male Pug.

ADOPTED 1/22/2006

BESSIE adopted to a family in north Georgia. She adopted out to a family with boys that were so excited for their new dog. The family prayed about the right dog to get and really felt this was the dog for them. They called and inquired and despite all types of attempts to adopt this dog out before their time to take her, she wouldn't adopt. She was meant for them-they were right about that! She is doing very well down there-loving the kids and all the attention. She just has to figure out which one to sleep with at night!

BESSIE is going to be around 20-25lbs. Her mom was a rat terrier and we guess dad was a beagle from the way she looks. Bessie is housebroken and GREAT with kids. She does great with other dogs - all different types, cats and birds. She has an easy going personality and is very flexible and not much bothers her. She plays well with other dogs. She's spayed, UTD on shots, dewormed, HW negative and on preventative.

ELLLIS was sent along with his brother, Evan, to the SPCA in upstate NY the weekend of Jan 13th-14th. He had not gotten one hit on him while down here but within a week adopted to a wonderful home up there. He just needed to be seen. He went into a home with 3-4 kids all around middle school age. They fell in love with him and he with them. He is an inside dog and will have the chance to run around and play with them. He was loving playing with them, running after them and having a ball. He sounds like he's great with kids. Beats living in a pen even if it's an incredibly large pen

ELLIS is an adorable, playful husky mix. He is medium-sized, and gets along well with other dogs of all sizes. He would be a great addition to a home with pets, or a great only pet. He loves to cuddle, and is very friendly. He is 11 months old as of 9/2005.

FRECKLES traveled to the SPCA in upstate NY over the weekend of Jan 13th-14th. He lived here in TN for 7 months with no interest and upon arriving was adopted up there in a week. He adopted out to a family that are first time dog owners. They are very excited about him. They have bought him a doggy bed with lambs wool but he's already migrated to their bed! He is getting walks but gets to live in the house-something that didn't happen here in TN. He is already housebroken. The husband is in the marines and waited til he was in a secure position before adopting a dog. They have called the SPCA several times to give them updates and are very conscious about his vetting!

FRECKLES is a neutered young male, around 10 months old (as of 8/2005). He cameout of the Loudon shelter. He's good wtih other dogs and very sweet.

ADOPTED 1/17/2006

BUSTER went to the SPCA in upstate NY and adopted within a week of arriving! He went to a home w/ 2 kids and will be traveling to Paris France in the next couple of weeks on a vacation! He will return home to NY though. They spent over $1000 on him in Petsmart before leaving-toys, high quaility food, crates and bedding. He is going to be very well loved. They are first time pet owners but got a very easy dog to take care of! Very easy going!

BUSTER was thrown over my fence a couple of days ago. He is a very loving solid little boy, who since his arrival has been wormed & defleaed, rabies & surgery were today. He is about 3mos old according to the Vet tech at my vet's office (she raises them, but has to many right now...of course) he is 25.8lbs and will get to about 45lbs of solid muscle. He gets along good with my larger dogs but my chi's he can't stand, so....he is now on his way to being crate trained. He loves attention from Keith, Harry (my 12 year old son), and myself and isn't afraid to get in-between your legs like a cat to get it. He does have a few mangy looking spots on him but was negative on that, but I am spraying him down anyway...no reason not to error on that side, especially with all the other dogs.

NONI, the sweet pointer mix, HAS A HOME!! So you can
take her down from your website. I saw Annette of Almost Home today and she told me that Noni had been adopted last weekend by a woman with 3 older daughters from Knoxville. They fell in love with her at an adoption event.

NONI She showed up early Monday, November 7, 2005 AM very hungry & shivering. She is a pointer mix. We took her to Village Veterinary when they opened & she got checked out. She had:HW check - negative
Dose of Interceptor - Yellow
Fecal Check - negative
Dose of wormer (Drontal Plus)
Rabies shot
DA2LP-P-Corona
Bordetella vaccine
Dose of Advantage Red
Also got ear cleaner for her.The vet estimates that she is between 1-2 years old and has recently come out of heat. He also thinks that she might have been hit by a car and had a broken pelvis. When she walks fast or runs, she hops on 1 of her back legs at times. She's not in any pain nor does it slow her up. She's scheduled to be spayed on November 17, 2005. She is extremely friendly, craves attention, wags her tail constantly, ignores our cat totally, plays with our lab and has shown absolutely no food aggression or any other aggression. Allows herself to be picked up and put into a crate without protest although she'll whine once in it. At night, she's been sleeping on our couch and doesn't come in and bother us at all. She's housebroken and whines to go out. She's been out on her own at least 2 months as she was sighted by someone who lives a mile from here running with a pack of dogs back then. Her teeth look good.

JACK

UPDATE 1/16/06: Renee, We love Jack!!! He was such a great boy on the drive home last night. He slept quite well without any accidents. I tried to walk him this morning but it was more like him walking me at first - he was distracted by the birds and squirrels and tried his best to go after them. After a little he settled and we did have a nice walk. I do notice that he is afraid of stairs. He did not want to go downstairs last night - cried and laid on the floor. We finally got him to go down but he shook the whole way. He was hesitant to come back up on his own but finally did. We tried him a few more times going down and he is getting better. We assumed that he probably just didn't have much exposure to stairs before, is this right? The poor guy! He cried and barked when we went to bed for about 1 minute only. Then he went to his bed and slept there all night. He was so happy to see us this morning.Very curious checking out our house - sniffing about! So affectionate. My son announced at breakfast that he now has a brother! He is just so pleased. I have attached a few pictures.I am going to try and walk him again this evening - or he'll walk me. This time I'll wear my running shoes and give him a real good workout. I'll send some more pictures along a tomorrow. I just thought it would ease your worry to him so happy in our home! Jennifer

He was actually too big for our crate. So we blocked off an area with a comfy pillow bed and the crate with the door open in case he wanted to go inside. He slept on the comfy pillow bed. He has not chewed and has not attempted to jump on the furniture. He was sitting and staying really well for me but not so much for my son. However, earlier today he sat for my son - as you can expect he was thrilled. We've got a bigger area for him tonight to see how he does. I think he will be fine. My husband stayed at home with Jack today and reports that he is a little hesitant on the stairs still but will go down with some coaxing. We have given him free roam of our family room and kitchen when we are there. He has been just hanging around us - wagging his tail. While we were getting ready this morning he tried to come up the stairs to our second level - they are hardwood stairs- he got up 3 steps and froze - couldn't go up or down. My husband had to lift him down. Poor guy! He is such a sweet dog. On the drive back, I put my hand on his paw and he put his paw over mine - just like you said he did for you. As I said to my husband, I finally have a man who wants to hold my hand! Jack did this for me, but hasn't yet for my husband so he is feeling a little left out. My husband brought him to the groomer today. They said he was so perfect getting his nails clipped and loved the blow dryer! He is such a charming dog - so happy. It's hard to believe that someone actually decided not to keep him. He is incredibly well behaved. Listens real well! I had him running last night for a while, and afterwards he just looked so content! I am going to run him again tonight (or he'll run me!) I just can't wait to get home from work and see him again! Jennifer

JACK is a wonderful golden mix that came from a local shelter. He is playful, affectionate and loves people. He loves children. He is a true retriever--loves to play with a ball and is learning to sit. He gets along with other dogs. Jack is up to date on shots and heartworm negative. He has been neutered and microchipped. 2 yr 9 month old Large (50-80) Male Golden Retriever mix. Leash Trained, Crate Trained.
